Reese’s May 2021 book club pick is in!
I’m always keeping an eye out on upcoming releases to decide which ones to cover for Book Club Chat and already looking at fall releases! And every time, I wonder which books Reese will select for her book club.
Reese’s May 2021 Book Club Pick
Sometimes I’m way off (such as March) and other times, I’m spot on—like this month! I just had a feeling she would select The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. The book is already being prepared for a TV series with Julia Roberts in the lead role and Reese serving as executive producer. Here’s the synopsis:
Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Initial Thoughts
I selected The Last Thing He Told Me as a May 2021 book club pick and I mentioned how I really enjoy Laura Dave’s novels. She typically writes more contemporary/women’s fiction type stories but this novel sounds more like a mystery. So I’m very curious how she tackles this different genre! But I still think there will be plenty of character development and introspection.
Reese is really liking the mysteries lately—from Northern Spy to The Sanatorium. Why do you think she keeps picking mysteries?
