Here’s a list of five new book titles that are all great choices to pick up during the 4th of July holiday weekend!
Whew, this summer if flying by. My son and I are having a blast—lots of beach, water parks and sun. We’re also both participating in our local library reading challenge, so a ton of reading for both of us as well. How is your summer going so far?
I recently read several buzzy new releases and decided to put together a quick list. This is a handy one for the long weekend, upcoming vacations or just simply ready for your new read. As always, if you want more selections, check out my must-read book club books for 2025 list here.
Let’s get to it!
Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Atmosphere is one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. It is officially right up there with Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones. This story following two astronauts in the ’80s is so engaging, and fascinating. You really feel like you’re on the ride with them. While there’s plenty of adventure, the heartbeat of the novel is about love. Both romantic and also family.
Highly recommend you add it to the list! Check out my book club questions here.
The Ghostwriter by Julie Clark
If you’re looking for a new mystery, The Ghostwriter by Julie Clark is very engaging. Before The Ghostwriter, I hadn’t read a thriller in ages. So I found it quite refreshing to revisit this genre. And Julie Clark is so good at creating a suspenseful story but also an interesting character study. I found this one to be especially vivid with the two timelines: one in present day Ojai, California, and the other in the 1975.
The Ghostwriter is an entertaining summer mystery. Check out my book club questions here.
The Summer We Ran by Audrey Ingram
For a unique twist on a contemporary romance, consider The Summer We Ran by Audrey Ingram.
The writing is fantastic, the characters feel real—they’re human, flawed and so interesting. There are multiple narratives and perspectives so you get the full picture. Mistakes are made, and I felt it really showed the human experience.
Highly recommend it for your summer reading. Check out my book club questions here.
Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez is an impactful and heartfelt read about two people, who despite all odds, do everything they can to stay together. I also just interviewed Abby where we talk about summer TBR and more so be sure to check it out here.
Say You’ll Remember Me is a well-done romance that also highlights real problems that people experience. Despite the cutesy cover, this is a heavy read at times. But it’s also quite hopeful too. Check out my book club questions here.
Beach House Rules by Kristy Woodson Harvey
Beach House Rules by Kristy Woodson Harvey is a fantastic summer story. Grab a drink by the pool, and enjoy this entertaining novel about friendship, family and more. The characters are vivid, and charming. There’s a focus on female friendships, and having a community there for each other. Plus, the mother/daughter relationship was wonderful to read about as well.
Another winner for sure! Check out my book club questions here.
Have a great holiday and happy reading!
