The Synopsis

There’s no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.

But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be. Only no amount of distance or time is enough to forget what’s between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life—and even a love—worth remembering.

Book Club Questions for Say You’ll Remember Me

  1. What was your impression of Xavier and Samantha’s first meeting? Why did they butt heads to start with?
  2. On the same note, why do you think Xavier couldn’t stop thinking about Samantha?
  3. After they reconnect, Xavier asks Samantha on a date. Why did she agree to the date even though she was moving the next day?
  4. Do you feel they are a good match? Why or why not?
  5. Initially Samantha tells Xavier to forget her, but they both can’t and then try to make long distance work. Have you ever been in a long distance relationship?
  6. Samantha returns back to California to help care for her mother who is suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s. What were your thoughts as you read those scenes between Samantha and her mother?
  7. Xavier has a complicated past, his parents were abusive and he has since gone no contact with them. How did this impact how Xavier handled his other relationships in his life?
  8. While Xavier and Samantha are a perfect match—the outside circumstances are forcing them apart. Samantha won’t leave her mother, and Xavier can’t leave his practice in Minnesota. Do you see why the two of them still fought for the relationship, or do you feel it was too much fighting against them to stay together?

  10. In the end, the two can’t be apart and Xavier takes on extra help, and opens a second practice in California. Him and Samantha eventually marry and the whole family still helps her mother. What were your thoughts on the ending?
  11. Some readers feel this story is more of a contemporary/women’s fiction novel rather than a straight-up romance. What are your feelings about this? Do you like when romances cover heavy topics and themes or do you prefer them to be lighter?
  12. Who would you cast as the lead roles in a film or TV adaptation?

Another great romance is This Summer Will Be Different by Carly Fortune. Check out my book club questions here.

Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.

It’s easier said than done.

Each year, Lucy escapes to PEI for a big breath of coastal air, fresh oysters and crisp vinho verde with her best friend, Bridget. Every visit begins with a long walk on the beach, beneath soaring red cliffs and a golden sun. And every visit, Lucy promises herself she won’t wind up in Felix’s bed. Again.

If Lucy can’t help being drawn to Felix, at least she’s always kept her heart out of it.

When Bridget suddenly flees Toronto a week before her wedding, Lucy drops everything to follow her to the island. Her mission is to help Bridget through her crisis and resist the one man she’s never been able to. But Felix’s sparkling eyes and flirty quips have been replaced with something new, and Lucy’s beginning to wonder just how safe her heart truly is.

Beach House Rules by Kristy Woodson Harvey

If you’re looking for a summer story that focus on female friendships, Beach House Rules is a great pick. Find my book club questions here.

When Charlotte Sitterly’s husband is arrested for a white-collar crime, she and her daughter Iris are locked out of their house by the FBI and—what’s potentially even worse—thrust into the spotlight of @JuniperShoresSocialite, the town’s snarky anonymous Instagram account. Cut off from her bank accounts and feeling desperate, Charlotte takes up an acquaintance’s offer to stay at a beachfront former bed-and-breakfast that’s home to a community of single mothers and draws plenty of gossip in the small coastal North Carolina town.

Charlotte and Iris find solace and are surprised by how much fun they’re having with the other families despite their circumstances. But when the women discover a secret link between them, it changes everything they thought they knew about the unconventional family they’ve created and leaves them wondering whether their coming together was a coincidence at all. Will the skeletons in the mommune closets help Charlotte and Iris reclaim their place in the Juniper Shores community—or shatter the sisterhood forever?

Happy reading!
