We’re right in the middle of fall reading season! Let’s take a closer look at some fall book club reads for 2025.
I can’t believe it’s November! Here in San Diego, we have chilly mornings and evenings, but warm afternoons. So it’s a mix of fall vibes, but not fully committed yet.
Now on to books! I’ve been enjoying several of the new books published this fall. So I thought I would put together a quick list of some buzzy new fall releases. I’m also currently putting together my holiday-themed list, and I will have that up soon.
Let me know what you’re reading in the comments section below!
The Irish Goodbye by Heather Aimee O’Neill
If you’re looking for a family literary drama, I highly recommend The Irish Goodbye by Heather Aimee O’Neill. The book takes place over Thanksgiving, so it’s a perfect time to pick it up in November.
The family experienced a devastating loss years ago, and everyone was forever changed. But there’s also quite a bit of secrets and resentments at play too. The Irish Goodbye is one of those stories I didn’t want to put down, and I was curious to see how all the storylines would unfold. For more about the story, check out my spoiler-free review here.

Gone Before Goodbye by Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben
If you’re looking more for a thriller/mystery, there is a lot of buzz with Gone Before Goodbye. Obviously, a lot of the attention is due to the book having Reese Witherspoon’s name attached as a co-author, but I’ve heard it’s good and plan to read it soon. I have never read a Harlan Coben book, so this will be my first one.
The story follows a surgeon who is trapped in a deadly conspiracy. This surgeon lost her license but was given another chance by a former colleague to perform plastic surgery on the ultra-rich clientele. But when a patient suddenly disappears under her care, she then goes on the run.
I’m pretty curious about this one, as the premise sounds pretty intriguing, but also super random, right? Come back soon for a review and book club questions!
The Mad Wife by Meagan Church
For more of a literary suspense story, consider The Mad Wife by Meagan Church. This historical drama delves into societal pressures on women, female hysteria, and the perils of medical misdiagnosis during the pressure-cooker of 1950s America.
“Anger and empathy,” says Church, are at the heart of the novel. Inspired by forgotten histories, The Mad Wife invites readers to connect with lives that may seem distant but feel urgently familiar. Through themes of motherhood, identity, and the crushing weight of expectation, this haunting story will leave readers questioning what’s real—and what lies just beneath the surface.
I’ll have my review, book club questions, plus an author interview with Meagan up soon!
Lauryn Harper Falls Apart by Shauna Robinson
If you’re seeking more of a cozy, small-town read, check out Lauryn Harper Falls Apart. This novel invites readers into a charming world. With an eclectic cast of characters and an irresistible small-town setting, Robinson delivers a wholesome autumn atmosphere perfect for readers seeking a comforting read reminiscent of Schitt’s Creek as the leaves turn and the air grows crisp.
November will be the perfect time to check this one out!
Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz
If you enjoy southern fiction, Good Hair Days will be right up your alley. Two sisters, a failing family business, and a whole lot of hairspray—Good Hair Days is a modern twist on Steel Magnolias with a little extra Dolly Parton flair. Bursting with energy, heart, and sass, Good Hair Days is about a family pulling together for a common purpose, finding healing from the past, and moving forward courageously as they encounter their hardest trial yet.
